REGULATIONS
All Entrants have a “duty of care” to avoid situations which could lead to injury to themselves or other people. This duty of care extends to the prevention of damage to property.
MEMBER’S PRIVILEGES
1. Each Subscriber is a member of the Society with a voice vote in its proceedings. Subscribers shall have a member's ticket & one complimentary ticket. Pensioner Subscribers must show their pension card for Subscription.
For alterations/cancellations to membership please advise the Secretary.
ADMISSION TO SHOW
2. The show will be open from 7.00 a.m. Members admitted on production of ticket; non-members, $15.00 (Inc GST), pensioners $10, students with passes $10, students 11-15yrs $10, children 10 years and under free, family entry (two adults and two children) $40.00
3. (a) Vehicles must not be placed nearer than 5 feet from the ring.
(b) Exhibitors to produce their entry ticket at the gate.
ENTRIES
4. Entries in all cases should be made on media provided by the Society. Hardcopy entries should be addressed to the Secretary, PO Box 141 Mt. Pleasant, SA 5235, or emailed to mtpleasantshow@bigpond.com to be received no later than the time specified. Exhibitors are kindly requested to enter early. No late entries accepted.
5. Entries will close as per dates specified for each section in the section heading.
EXHIBITS
6. Livestock exhibits will be received at the showgrounds up to 8.30 a.m. on the morning of the show, and must not be removed before 4.00 p.m. Judging of indoor exhibits will commence at times listed in the program.
7. Horses and stock to be led around as the Judges may direct.
8. Any person giving annoyance to Judge, Society, Committee, or Secretary shall be liable to exhibit disqualification.
9. Produce and other inside exhibits received up to the time specified in the section heading. They must be placed in the space allotted by Society or whom they may appoint, and must not be removed before 4.00 p.m.
10. Any exhibitor removing his or her property before the above stated times will forfeit his or her prize if entitled to any, and if not, may be debarred from exhibiting again at any of the Society’s Shows.
11. All produce entered for competition must be the production of the present season and must have been grown, produced, or manufactured by the exhibitor.
12. Stock etc. must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor.
13. All exhibitors and the Public must leave the building, cattle yards, and show ring while the Judges are giving their decisions.
14. No-one but the Society and persons in charge are allowed in the ring at the time of judging, except those invited by the President.
15. Competitors may affix their name and selling price on their exhibits after the Judges have made their awards, but in no case until then.
16. The Judges are empowered to withhold prizes where exhibits are considered unworthy, or they may award second or third prizes in lieu of first or second.
17. The Judges are empowered to reject an entry in the merino sheep section which, in their opinion, has not complied with the Society’s shearing regulation
18. Interference with, or alteration of tickets either by competitors or the public is strictly prohibited; all exhibits of any competitor so interfering will be liable to disqualification. The attention of the Secretary or Stewards should be called to any supposed error.
19. Any exhibitor giving a wrong description of his or her exhibit with the intention of deceiving or defrauding the Society shall forfeit the prize to which he or she may be entitled and be debarred from exhibiting at any future show and the particulars of the case shall be published in the Society’s proceedings.
20. All protests must be made in writing to the Secretary accompanied by a fee of $20. Such fee to be absolutely forfeited to the Society if the Society deem the protest dismissed. Entries are only received on condition that the Society’s decision shall be final in all cases. Protest must be submitted within 30 minutes of results being made public.
21. The Society will endeavour to protect exhibits from damage or loss but will not be in any way responsible for them.
22. Prize money not collected within 1 calendar month of the show will be forfeited to the Society.
23. Exhibitors are requested to note the time for taking entries and receiving exhibits.
24. Fruit and Produce stalls will be admitted to the grounds on payment of a fee but will not be allowed to sell aerated waters, ice cream & foods.
25. The Showmen’s Guild of SA has been granted sideshow rights and owners of sideshows must contact the Secretary of the Guild or this Society for space to exhibit.
26. Passes (not transferable) will be issued to persons having business outside the grounds during the day.
27. All vehicles entering the grounds must park where directed by the stewards.
28. The Society will not be responsible for any accident, which may occur on the ground or premises, and it shall be a condition of entry that each competitor shall hold the Society blameless, and shall indemnify it against any legal proceedings arising out of any such accident.
29. Judges may call on Society’s Veterinary Surgeon in respect to the soundness of any exhibit. The Society reserves the right to test any exhibit to determine whether any drug or stimulant has been administered to such exhibit. The Society shall not be responsible for the death, injury or damage which may be sustained by an exhibit due to this test being made.
30. No exhibitor may remove animals from grounds without permission from the Executive Committee. A letter of request must be in the hands of the Secretary, Mt. Pleasant Show by February 28th for consideration by the Executive Committee. Exhibitor must produce a veterinary certificate, signed by a registered veterinary surgeon, on day of show, in urgent cases for animals to leave the grounds.
31. Stewards have the right to remove any sick or infected birds and animals.
32. All scratching’s must be notified to the Secretary, Mt Pleasant Show,7 days prior to the show.
33. All horses must be shown in recognised bridle and bit, or chain.
Application for entry to show classes is deemed acceptance of the above regulations.
